First and Foremost: What is Powerlifting?

Powerlifting is a sport in which competitors attempt to lift as much weight as they can for one repetition in the Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift.

Each lifter is placed into a specific division and classified by certain variables including weight class and age. Further subdivisions are made between what’s known as “equipped” and “raw” powerlifters, indicating whether the individual is wearing supportive equipment during the competition or not.

Powerlifting competitions are generally all-day events that begin with the squat, go on to the bench press, and finish with the deadlift. Each competitor is allowed three attempts at each lift, making for a total of nine competition lifts throughout the day. There are many federations in which athletes can compete in. we mostly compete with the Irish PF, the IDFPA and the AIPO..
